Langley Election Candidates Debate, Q and A to be driven by a Media Power Panel on May 1st

CARP/SFOT Langley provincial election debate to be
first ever live web streamed in Langley
and conducted by a 3 member media power panel

CARP and SFOT are delighted to jointly host the first ever Media Power Panel election candidate debate on May 1st for all Langley Township & Langley City candidates prior to the Provincial Election.

The Media Power Panel will develop and ask the questions as well as receive and ask audience and live twitter questions from the public. The debate organizing committee is looking forward to also live streaming the debate over the internet for the first time ever in Langley.

The CARP and SFOT  organizations have teamed up to host a Provincial Langley Election Candidates Debate on May 1st at the Langley Township Municipal building 3rd floor Presentation Theater at 20338 - 65 Avenue.

The debate will commence at 7 PM and will be preceded by a foyer meet & greet period between 6 PM and 7 PM.

This non partisan debate is open to the public. All 700+ members of both hosting organizations will also be informed of the debate and invited to attend/participate.

This is the first ever Langley debate that will include candidates from both the Langley Provincial ridings at the same time and conducted entirely by a local media panel. The election candidates will be questioned by a three member Media Power Panel.

The Media Power Panel consists of three of Langley’s most prominent media leaders:

·         Frank Bucholtz, who is the Langley Times Newspaper Editor & Surrey North Delta Leader columnist.

·         Bob Groeneveld, who is the Langley Advance & Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Times Newspaper Editor.

·         Mark Forsythe, who is the CBC Radio Anchor for B.C. Almanac, Publisher of THE FORT newspaper and columnist.

South Fraser CARP chair, Teri Mckenzie says, " This is a wonderful and unique opportunity for all Langley voters to help make their upcoming provincial voting decision based on a non partisan debate of all our local election candidates at one time and in one place debating their party platforms, policies and profiles especially when led by our knowledgeable, well known and distinguished Media Power Panel."

The Langley based South Fraser CARP Chapter #48 is a not for profit organization of volunteers advocating for a “New Vision of Aging” for Canada with well over 700 local registered chapter members and over 360,000 members nationally  The current local CARP chapter Chair is Teri McKenzie.  See CARP link at .

Both organizations will also be asking at least one question each of the candidates as well that is of significant importance for their members, demographics and mission.

Invitations were communicated well in advance in early March to all declared candidates or election candidates’ offices in both Langley ridings. Specifically invited were all six of Langley’s Provincial Conservatives, Liberals and NDP election candidates.
